Part-Time Finance Manager
Summerfall Studios is looking for a finance manager to join our multi-award-winning team in a part-time capacity (1-2 days a week) to ensure our bookkeeping, accounting, and finance management are smooth and efficient. Or as smooth and efficient as game development gets, at any rate.
We are passionate about finding and nurturing the right talent, and we encourage underrepresented candidates to apply. We are a team diverse on a number of axes and are excited to explore and expand to make amazing games that convey deep stories and unique experiences together.
This role is a flexible part-time 12-month contract with the possibility of extension. It is open to those who live and can work in Australia, and can either be on-site in our Melbourne CBD office or remote. We are ideally looking for someone who can grow with us as a studio, and over time become a company leader in operations.
The remuneration for this position is $80-85k AUD + Superannuation annually prorated to a part-time rate where a full week is 4 days (so 2 days is .5).
Key Responsibilities
Monthly reconciliation and bookkeeping in Xero
Keeping internal budget spreadsheets up-to-date
Working with the Managing Director to build budgets and do forecasting
Liaising with our accountants to ensure we are meeting our obligations, and investigating any specific situations as necessary
Periodical financial reporting
Required Skills
Business or finance degree, or equivalent experience in a practical role
Strong understanding of the Australian tax system and reporting requirements
Strong understanding of Google Sheets or Excel (we use Sheets)
Strong English communication skills to explain financial data to non-experts and engage with diverse teams
A detail-oriented attitude with an analytical mindset – you gotta be good with numbers!
Bonus Skills
Experience managing budgets of $2-5m+ for small-to-midsize organisations
Experience with financial planning, advice, or wealth management
Understanding and experience of videogame development
Experience with the Digital Games Tax Offset, Victorian Screen Incentive or equivalent offsets and programs
Culture & Benefits
Summerfall abides by a four day, 30 hour work week (Tues-Fri), so the days worked would need to fall within that period
Work with a world-class team to create innovative new narrative-driven games
Flexible hours and work policies
Growth opportunities, mentoring, and support
A focus on work-life balance and a commitment to minimising any overwork
Generous leave policies, and an environment where you’re encouraged to take it!
Even if you don’t meet all the criteria, we encourage you to apply! We are open to talk to applicants from outside the game industry with equivalent experience as well, if they feel they could be a valuable addition to our team.
